Why so sure?

When I first saw the statement “The problem with this world is that while fools are sure about things all the wise men are full of doubt.” I couldn’t appreciate it fully but when I thought a bit more deeply I think I have got the meaning behind these lines. How can one be sure about all the things in his life? How can he not doubt about the choices he have made and counter all the arguments against that choice rationally and successfully. How can one be sure that his is the only true god and all the people from other religion are somehow separated from that god? I mean, if there is only one god and he didn’t create those from other religion, how on earth do they even exist on this planet? How are the scientists so sure that there is no god? How can they possibly think that this whole arrangement of complex atoms and life and neurons and neutrinos and what not, is a product of sheer chance? Whenever they discover something, they discover with it hundreds of other questions. How can one be sure that Narendra Modi is the only suitable candidate for the post of Prime Minister of India? When I see some of the arguments made by them and see the force and conviction with which they back themselves I feel dumb. I feel that I have been missing something terribly. But why are they so sure. Why do they not understand the reason of people who are countering them? If someone says that it is a possibility that if he comes to power he would destroy all the “silly” and small things that come in the path of growth, where are they wrong? The development indices of Gujarat shows the immense growth made by this state but at the same time human development indices aren’t so strong. I really think that those who want a dictator to solve all the problems in their life are the same who would regret their decisions most in the future. Dry stick is the one that breaks easily because it is rigid. It doesn’t bend flexibly like a dry stick and when the burden is over the capacity, it breaks. And this argument holds true for those who are strictly opposing Narendra Modi too. If you are development oriented, who can be a better PM. He will give you a growth trajectory that no other would ever have dreamt of. His past performance and reports are a live proof for this argument. Some poor might be left out but then why worry about the poor. You are not a communist, are you? And if you are, you need to have introspection more than all the thinkers. Communism and socialism as an idea are the most revolutionary and idealistic idea one can hope to achieve. But it is not meant to be. It is not in the human nature. All human beings will never be equal. Everyone has some different capability, some different talent and they would make progress differently no matter how forcibly you try to equate all of them. Past experience has also proved the same. Then what should we do? Should we not choose anyone and try to boycott the elections. We will not be able to take any decision in life if we think this way. So we should try to gain as much knowledge as possible and try to form an opinion but this opinion should never be so rigid that any argument, any statement against this opinion raises in you such rage and hostility that you try to harm or injure that person for making such a statement.
